The Lawson-Yeardley Project:

March 19, 2016 House Party Recording Event.

House Party and recording event March 19, 2016 at Foxchapel Studios. Lawson-Yeardley Project and our friends the Nightowls. This is an invitation-only event, except that a few FREE TICKETS are available to the general public. Contact us at balance@one.net and we'll get you on the guest list if there are still spots available.

The new band consists of veteran musicians with numerous previous connections - Jim Lawson, Donna Rose Lawson, Roger Yeardley and John Cole. Jim and Donna are founders of the long running Moxie Band, which released a CD last year. Roger was fill-in bass player with the Moxie Band when Michael Barrett (Modulators) wasn't available. The band is performing a number of tunes written by veteran Cincy songwriter Roger Yeardley. Jim & Roger were bandmates in Roger's Balance Allstars (version II, which also included Doug Perry).  In LYP, Jim and Roger provide harmonies behind lead singer Donna Rose, as well as guitar and bass.  Drummer and multi-instrumentalist, John Cole also plays dobro in the Cincinnati Comet Bluegrass Allstars. The band plays “blue-eyed soul” (though no Hall & Oates songs…yet) with blues, jazz, and R&B influences.

There will be video and audio recording of the event, and a live EP is expected.  The Nightowls are opening the evening, followed by the Lawson-Yeardley Project, followed by a jam session at the end of the night with members of the 2 bands and other musicians attending the event.

The Lawson-Yeardley Project had a great outing as part of the All You Need is Love benefit at Mecklenburg's on Dec. 26, 2015.

The phrase "blue-eyed soul" comes to mind when I think of our sound and the mix of tunes that features original tunes and some bluesy Motown.

THE LAWSON-YEARDLEY PROJECT [Jim Lawson, Donna Rose Lawson, Larry Bloomfield (special guest), Roger Yeardley (front row L to R). John Cole on drums (background)]. Having fun making music with our friends at the Dec. 26 benefit @ Mecklenburg's.

December 2015 - Gary Burbank and I wrote a Cincinnati Bengals Christmas tune (parody), "Andy the Redhead QB" and I created a little video for the tune and posted it on my YouTube Channel here - Andy the Redhead QB . It was written right about the time of Andy's injury, and unfortunately, the tag added to the end of the song was too accurate in its concern about how the season would end.

The Same But Different:

The latest Balance Productions CD made the list of "Great Local Releases of 2013" (Cincinnati CityBeat, Dec.25-31, 2013)

“really incredible! .. Americana .. yes .. but timeless! the guitars are simply perfect!! ... and the songs .. good selection! ... it's all a bit like Rockpile (Dave Edmunds/Nick Lowe) meets Sir Douglas ........... very fine CD!” - Lord Litter (Germany, whose program on Radio Marabu is broadcast throughout Europe):

..."Long time indie recording artist is always eclectic but focuses this time on songs in a country style for much of this highly enjoyable album. This ain't corny, this ain't even hip... this is just solid songwriting and musicianship.". - Don Campau (KKUP, KRFL, Radio Marabu)
